Author biography

Badal Paul is an Indian author, poet, educator and educational entrepreneur based in Raiganj, Uttar Dinajpur, West Bengal. A postgraduate in English Literature and holder of a B.Ed. degree, he has spent around twenty-five years in education, including teaching at Sarada Vidya Mandir, Sudarshanpur, Raiganj, from 2003 to 2011, followed by continuing service in the Government school system of West Bengal.

His writing spans speculative and supernatural fiction, Bengali storytelling, poetry, meditation and English-language education. His published works include Kalchakra: Oom and the Chosen Five and Whispers of the Invisibles: Nachiketa and the Mystery of the Dark Shadows, alongside works on meditation and English-language learning. His Bengali writing draws on North Bengal, humour, folklore, social contradiction and the uncanny. His poem “Whispers Between Worlds: A Dialogue with the Ancient” received Third Prize in the 2024 Steve Miller / Baltimore Science Fiction Society Annual Poetry Contest.

Beyond writing and teaching, Paul is the founder of Bodhi Classes, an EdTech and educational initiative, and co-founder of Kaivalya Sangha, a theosophical and spiritual organisation. A Kriya Yoga practitioner and follower of the Shyamacharan Lahiri / Lahiri Mahasaya lineage, his continuing interests include consciousness, parapsychology, occult traditions, spiritual inquiry and Indian philosophical thought. His current literary work includes the 40-poem collection Journey Incognito: Poems of the Inner Traveller, Whispers of the Invisibles: Return of Rudra, The Second Classroom and new short fiction including PINTU.
