A life across writing, teaching and inner inquiry
Badal Paul is an Indian author, poet and educator from Raiganj, Uttar Dinajpur, West Bengal. He is a postgraduate in English Literature and holder of a B.Ed. degree, with around twenty-five years of teaching experience. Alongside the classroom he has built a sustained life in English and Bengali writing, educational publishing, digital learning and independent inquiry.
His creative work repeatedly approaches thresholds: the rational and the uncanny, mortality and continuity, ordinary social life and realities that may lie beyond immediate perception. His bibliography ranges from speculative and supernatural fiction to meditation, English-language learning, Bengali storytelling and poetry.

Badal Paul worked at Sarada Vidya Mandir, Sudarshanpur, Raiganj, from 2003 to 2011 and continues to work as a teacher in the Government school system of West Bengal. Long classroom experience has shaped his books on English language, assessment work and continuing interest in visual pedagogy, EdTech and AI-assisted learning.

Inner life & inquiry
Practice, consciousness and the unexplained
Alongside literature and education, Badal Paul maintains a sustained engagement with contemplative practice. He is a Kriya Yoga practitioner and an ardent follower of the Shyamacharan Lahiri / Lahiri Mahasaya lineage. This inner discipline intersects naturally with recurring questions in his fiction and poetry: consciousness, mortality, meditation, altered states of awareness and the limits of ordinary perception.
His wider interests include parapsychology, occult traditions, spiritual inquiry and Indian philosophical thought. He is also co-founder of Kaivalya Sangha, a theosophical and spiritual organisation. They also shape his reading and creative work, especially his interest in consciousness, the unseen and the limits of perception.
